Abstract
This Research deals with the lexical density of Reading Materials especially descriptive and narrative text in English Textbook entitled When English Rings a Bell at eighth grade of al-Huda Junior High School. The objective of the research is to know the lexical density of reading materials especially descriptive and narrative text in When English Rings a Bell textbook for 8th grade of al-Huda Junior High School. The method of this research was descriptive qualitative classified into document or content analysis. In collecting the data, the researcher used the document to analyze the lexical density on When English Rings a Bell textbook for the 8th grade of al-Huda Junior High School. The result of this reserch shows that descriptive text had 44.57 % lexical densities. It showed that descriptive text had lower lexical density while narrative text had 52. 20 % lexical densities. It showed that narrative text had quite lexical density. Based on the results, it can be concluded that reading materials in When English Rings a Bell textbook for 8th grade of al-Huda Junior High School are not difficult to be understood.
