Abstract

Acacia crassicarpa is one of the most recommended tree species to be grown in the development of Industrial Plantation Forest (IPF). However, there is a problem in A. crassicarpa that is disease attack on nursery. Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) is a collection of bacteria derived from rhizosphere plants that have an important role in plant growth, crop protection, and soil health improvement. This study aims to determine the effect of PGPR isolate to increase growth and control disease in A. crassicarpa seeds. The experiment was arranged using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 treatments and 5 replications. Parameters observed were survival rate, plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and disease incidence. In this case, the PGPR application does not affect the growth of A. crassicarpa on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves and stem diameter. PGPR with P5 treatment code was able to suppress wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum on A. crassicarpa seeds, but no PGPR treatment was able to suppress the streaky patches caused by Xanthomonas campestris. Keywords: PGPR bacteria, Growth, Acacia crassicarpa.
