Abstract
The purpose of this study is to know whether there is influence of students’ motivation by providing feedback and their writing skill of state senior high school ( SMA N) 1 kampartimur. From 148 students of the total population which consisted of fifth classes, the researcher took 30 students as the sample by using simple random sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed questionnaire to the respondents to assess their motivation in writing. The questionnaire was based on the indicators of writing motivation which were adopted from the school. Besides, in assessing students; writing skill, this research conducted a written test to the students. In analyzing the data, the questionnaire was assessed by Likert’s scale rating, and written test was measured by school criteria. Person Product Moment Correlation Technique was used in order to measure the correlation between the two variables which quantified the strength as well as direction of the correlation by using SPSS 19. The result of this research showed that the students’ motivation in writing was 63.07% while their writing skill was 70.83% in terms of the influence of students’ motivation by providing feedback on writing skill the researcher found that the coefficient influence in this research WAS 0,165, it means that there is an average influence between those variables. Based on the research findings, it could be concluded that there is a significant influence students’ motivation by providing feedback and their writing skill of State Senior High School 1 Kampar Timur.
