Abstract

This research is a class action (Class Action Reseach). Based on the observations in Class VA MIN 3 Simpang Tiga Pekanbaru City encountered some symptoms or phenomena in the learning process, especially on the subjects of Islamic Religious Education, which indicates a lack of involvement of the student in learning such as: a) daily test results are still below the value Minimal mastery criteria (KKM) at 65, it can be seen from the 28 students only 15 students or 53.6% to reach KKM. b) When given the task of daily tests, most students it is difficult to answer. c) The low reading comprehension skills, d) difficulty of students infer the content of a story, this is seen when asked to sum up the content of a story only a few students were able to infer the content of a story, e) Students are quickly bored with the lesson being presented, it is seen of the activities of those who used to play or talk with a friend when the lesson done. The formulation of an issue in this research is the application of learning strategies College Ball to Improve Reading Comprehension Ability English in Grade VA MIN 3 Simpang Tiga Pekanbaru City? The research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle is done in two sessions. In order to study this class action work well without the barriers that interfere with the smoothness of the study, researchers compiled through stages in action research, namely: 1) planning / preparatory action, 2) Implementation of the action, 3) Observation and Reflection. Based on these results, it is known that an increase in reading comprehension skills. Reading comprehension ability of students gained an average of 64.4 percent with a low category. Then based on the results of observations on the first cycle indicates that the level of reading comprehension ability of students achieved an average of 68.2 percent by the middle category. While on the second cycle increased reading comprehension ability of students achieving an average gained 78.6 percent to a high category. With the ability to understand the reading achievement of students, it can be concluded that with the implementation of the strategy College Ball can improve students' English reading comprehension grade VA MIN 3 Simpang Tiga Pekanbaru City.
