Abstract

The research was conducted due to the low ability of students’ in mastering the English vocabulary. This study aimed at finding out how the use of alphabet games can improve the students’mastery at grade 4 Azzahidin Islamic Elementary Schools Pekanbaru This study was class room action research, carried out for three months. It was done in two cycles, which consisted of two meetings for each cycle The researcher did the research based on the procedures of class room action research namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were obtained from observation cheeklist and test. It was found that the use of alphabet game on the first cycle showed the increasethe ability to master English vocabulary. In the second cyclesome improvementswas made during the learning process. In this second cycle English vocabulary at grade 4 students by using the alphabet game is increasing.The second cycle showed that the mastery of English vocabulary by using the alphabet game can be said to be increasing. From both of cycles, Itwas known that the use of alphabet games can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery at grade 4 Azzahidin Islamic Elementary School Pekanbaru.
