Abstract

This research is a class action (Class Action Reseach). Based on observations in class VII MTs Al-Muhajirun Village District Sukamulya Bangkinang Across Kampar regency encountered some symptoms or phenomena in teaching and learning, especially on English subjects, who showed a lack of students' skills in writing descriptive paragraphs such as: a) only 15 students or 41.7% of the 30 students who have the ability to write descriptive paragraphs in the English language so well that it has reached a predetermined KKM at 65, as many as 21 students or 58.3% from 30 students find it difficult to write descriptive paragraphs so that they KKM has not been able to achieve a predetermined, and students were quickly bored with the lesson being presented, it is seen from the activities of those who often play or talk with a friend when the lessons implemented. The research was conducted in four cycles, the data is described is a new school year and going to school, that is, before the action, in Cycle I, II cycle, cycle III and Cycle IV, each cycle is done in one session. In order to study this class action work well without the barriers that interfere with the smoothness of the study, researchers set about the stages through which the class action research, namely: 1) Planning / preparation of action, 2) Implementation of action, 3) Observation, and Reflection. Based on these results, it is known that the ability to write descriptive paragraphs before the action reaches only 33.7% percentage of the category of "low". In cycle I reached 50.2 percent in the category of "Medium". In cycle II, reaching 80.7 percent in the category "High". From these results, the research hypothesis, which reads through the application of the approach Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) can improve the ability to write descriptive paragraphs English class VII student of Al-Muhajirun MTs Village District Sukamulya Bangkinang Across Kampar regency "acceptable".
