Abstract

Standar mutu bunga mawar (Rosa hybrida) potong ditentukan oleh tingkat kesegarannya (vase life). Salah satu upaya mempertahankan kesegaran bunga mawar potong dengan pemberian larutan pengawet (pulsing) yaitu sukrosa, germisida dan pengasam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan komposisi pemberian rebusan daun sirih dan belimbing wuluh sebagai larutan pengawet terhadap kesegaran bunga potong mawar. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial dengan 6 perlakuan dan 10 ulangan, sehingga terdapat 60 satuan percobaan. Perlakuan pada penelitian ini yaitu K0: aquades (300 ml), K1: 1 ml/l sodium hipoklorit + 0,5% asam sitrat, K2: 10 % rebusan daun sirih + 2% belimbing wuluh, K3: 20 % rebusan daun sirih + 4% belimbing wuluh, K4: 30% rebusan daun sirih + 6% belimbing wuluh, K5: 40% rebusan daun sirih + 8% belimbing wuluh. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa bunga mawar potong direndam dalam larutan pengawet berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap semua parameter yaitu masa kesegaran, pH, larutan terserap, susut bobot, diameter kemekaran, dan warna bunga. Konsentrasi larutan pengawet terbaik terhadap vase life bunga potong mawar adalah pemberian rebusan daun sirih dan belimbing wuluh yaitu kombinasi 10 % Rebusan daun sirih + 2% belimbing wuluh.
