Abstract
Riau Province is the largest oil palm producing province in Indonesia. To achieve optimal production, oil palm plants require sufficient and balanced nutrients. This study aims to determine the sufficiency status and differences in nutrient levels of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), sulfur (S), calcium (Ca), and magnesium (Mg) in 6 years and 8 years oil palm plants (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). The study was conducted from July to December 2024 at PTPN IV Sei Pagar, Kampar District. Nutrient transport analysis was performed at the Central Laboratory of Andalas University. The research method used was a quantitative descriptive method, implemented through direct observation followed by laboratory analysis. Sample points were determined using purposive sampling. The parameters tested were nutrient levels of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and S. The results showed that 6 years oil palm plants had optimal levels of N, K, Ca, and Mg, as well as high levels of P and S. In contrast, 8 years oil palm plants had deficient levels of N, K, Mg, and S, optimal levels of Ca, and high levels of P. Based on the t-test results, there were significant differences in N, K, Mg, and S levels between 6 years and 8 years plants, while there were no significant differences in P, Ca, and Mg levels between 6 years and 8 years plants. The conclusion of this study is that the nutrient status of 6 years oil palms is optimal for N, K, Ca, and Mg, with high P and S levels, while 8 years oil palms have deficient N, K, Mg, and S levels, optimal Ca levels, and high P levels. The t-test results show significant differences in the average levels of N, K, and S between 6 years and 8 years oil palms.
