Abstract

This study aimed to explore the experiences of pre-service English teachers in conducting self-reflection after the implementation of teaching practice in the Indonesian context. This study was a qualitative study using a phenomenological approach. This study was conducted in February 2025-March 2025 at the English Education Department of the State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. Data were collected by distributing reflective notes to 8 students who were undergoing teaching practice and conducting individual interviews with them. This study found that pre-service English teachers learned a lot during their teaching practice, ranging from those related to pedagogical aspects, classroom arrangements when teaching, utilizing technology, to their personal identity. In addition, pre-service English teachers are also aware of going through difficulties in teaching practice that are related to their students the most, sometimes also fighting with personal feelings when teaching, and difficult experiences in terms of their pedagogical skills.
