Abstract

ABSTRACT Sufinatunnajah 11830225176@students.uin-suska.ac.id This research aimed at analyzing the dimensions of the Prophet Adam‘s repentance contained in Al-Qur‘an with thematic approach toward relevant verses. The Prophet Adam‘s repentance is one of the important stories in Al-Qur‘an containing moral, spiritual, and theological lessons for mankind. Maudhu‟i (thematic) interpretation method was used in this research to explore the meaning, wisdom, and relevance of the story of the Prophet Adam‘s repentance for daily life. The research findings indicated that the Prophet Adam‘s repentance consisted of three main dimensions—admission of guilt, deep regret, and asking for forgiveness from Allah Almighty. These dimensions reflect the principles of repentance in Islam—sincerity, self-awareness, and commitment not to repeat sins. This research showed a new perspective that the sin does not just come because it must involve or there is a contribution from the surrounding environment. This research also revealed how Allah Almighty accepted the Prophet Adam‘s repentance as a manifestation of His characteristics—Rahman and Rahim, as well as a guide for mankind to always come back to Allah after making mistakes. This research contributed to enrich the study of Quranic interpretation and to provide a new perspective on the importance of the repentance concept in building a close spiritual relationship with Allah Almighty. In addition, the research findings are relevant in forming the moral and spiritual awareness of Muslims to live a better life. Keywords: Dimension, Repentance, Prophet Adam, Al-Qur’an.
