Abstract

This study investigates the impact of using audiobook on students' listening comprehension in English classes at SMPN 20 Pekanbaru. The research aims to determine whether incorporating audiobook as a learning medium significantly have an impact on the students' listening comprehension compared to traditional methods. A quasi-experimental design with cluster random sampling was employed, involving two groups: an experimental group taught using audiobook and a control group taught without them, in total of 68 students in the two classes with 34 each class. To collect the data, the researcher used a test, it consists of 20 multiple choices. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 25 version. The findings reveal a significant difference in the listening comprehension scores between the two groups, in which Sig (2-tailed) 0.000 had less value than 0.005, then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. The result concluded that there was a significant difference in the use of Audiobook as the media on the students’ listening comprehension at SMPN 20 Pekanbaru.
