Abstract

BUMDes is a village business institution managed by the community and village government in an effort to strengthen the village economy which is formed based on the needs and potential of the village. The problems in this study are; lack of human resources for BUMDes management, and lack of community understanding of the role of BUMDes. In essence, the establishment of BUMDes in the village can support the improvement of the economy and community welfare. This study aims to determine the Role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in improving the economy of the Tanjung Bungo village community, Kampa District, Kampar Regency. This study has three indicators, namely; active role, participatory role and passive role. This study is a qualitative study with 9 informants, 1 person as a key informant and 8 people as supporting informants. Data in this study were collected using observation, interview, and documentation methods. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data presentation, data reduction and conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the role of BUMDes in improving the community's economy is taken from Soerjono Soekanto's theory, namely active role, participatory role, and passive role. In the Active Role, BUMDes Sejahtera has provided services in the form of simple social businesses to meet basic household needs. In the Participatory Role, BUMDes Sejahtera has utilized village assets in the form of VIAR and BUMDes has provided support for community businesses in the form of business capital through savings and loans. In the Passive Role, the community submits proposals or ideas for marketing development activities or business promotions and the community helps provide business capital for BUMDes. So that by implementing these three roles, BUMDes Sejahtera can improve the community's economy such as increasing community income, increasing PAD, fulfilling basic household needs, and opening up employment opportunities for the community.
