Abstract
This study analyze the modulation performance of Binary Phase Shift Keying (BPSK) under three different conditions of the ionosphere low-latitude canal. This study compares the performance of BPSK on the AWGN channel, Rayleigh fading, and three ionosphere model channels (iturHFLQ, iturHFLM, and iturHFLD) based on ITU recommendations. The simulation results show that BPSK operates best on the AWGN channel, with a significant decrease in Bit Error Rate (BER) and an increase in Eb/N0. The slower decline in BER on the Rayleigh channel shows the influence of multipath fading. For all four ionosphere channel conditions, BER remained constant at the threshold value (approximately 10-1 even when Eb/N0 increased to 40 dB, indicating the dominance of the fading effect. This study shows that to improve the performance of HF communication on channels with significant fading, mitigation techniques such as channel diversity or coding are necessary.
