Abstract
ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the gaffe of Rashad Khalifa’s interpretation toward the special number 19 in Al-Qur’an. The verses 30 Surah Al-Mudatsir was used as the basic in putting forward the theory that was the number 19 mentioned in this verse was actually a symbol of keywords in Al-Qur’an. Every word and letter in Al-Qur’an was in line with a mathematical design which was proven by using computerized calculations. Khalifa’s worked entitled “Qur’an Visual Presentation of Miracles” consisted of 247 pages, there were 52 pages contained physical facts and for every fact contained in the book was complemented with tables and quantities containing various kinds of additions and multiplications as well as formulas of mathematics which of course supported his statement. The problems of this research: what the interpretation of Rashad Khalifa and the ulama regarding to Surah Al Mudtasir verse 30, and what the miracle of number 19 in Al-Qur’an from the perspective of Rashad Khalifa and Doubtful. It was a library research with qualitative method, because it was to know purposes of the research, the researcher processed the existing data (books) and then interpreted them into concepts that could support the goals and objects of this research. The research findings showed that the meaning of number 19 was an angel number, so this opinion was very contradictory with Rashad Khalifa’s thoughts, and number 19 was something that has been interpreted deliberately or created, so resulting illogical arguments or conclusions according to commentators because he connected the number 19 with its special features in Al-Qur’an.
