Abstract

ABSTRACT Anjelita, (2024): Students’ Translation Ability and Their Writing Ability: A Correlational Study at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau” The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation between students' translation ability and their writing ability in the sixth semester students of the English Education Department at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. In research, the researcher used quantitative method. The design of this research was correlation research. From 140 students of the population which consisted of 5 classes. The researcher took random sampling from all classes which amounted to 29 students as the sample by using simple random sampling. The instrument of this research were translation ability test and writing ability test. The researcher used Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient through SPSS 26.00 to analyze the data. The result of this researcher show that sig.(2-tailed) value is 0.013. It can be said sig.(2-tailed) value smaller than 0.05 (0.013<0.05). It means that Ho is rejected while Ha is accepted. The value of correlation coefficient is 0.454. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a correlation between students' translation ability and their writing ability at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau.
