Abstract

ABSTRACT Vivi Novita Br. Manurung (2023): The Contribution of Vocabulary Mastery toward Students’ Writing Ability at Senior High School 1 Tapung The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of vocabulary mastery with students' writing skills at SMA Negeri 1 Tapung. The approach of this research is quantitative method with correlation design. The data of this study were collected from 63 students of class X by using cluster sampling technique. In collecting data, researchers distributed vocabulary mastery tests and essay writing tests. The researcher used Pearson product moment and simple linear regression to analyze the relationship and the amount of contribution of vocabulary mastery to writing ability. The results showed that the sig F value obtained was 0.000 lower than the alpha value (0.05) and the F value obtained was 83.20> F table of 4.00, meaning that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. In conclusion, there is a contribution between vocabulary mastery and students' writing skills at SMA Negeri 1 Tapung.
