Abstract
English has been taught by the teacher in Islamic Junior High School Al- Ihsan Siak Hulu Regency of Kampar by some strategies to increase students’ speaking ability such as the teacher taught students by giving explanation about the materials and then the teacher asked the students questions and responded them respectively. Sometimes the teacher used group discussion, and drama. But in fact, the students remained unable to speak English well. The model of the research is qualitative, the type of the research was a descriptive research. The subject of the research was the eight grade students at Islamic Junior High School Al-Ihsan Siak Hulu Regency of Kampar which total of sample were 48 students. The researcher gave test to students in order to know students’ speaking ability. The technique of collecting data was oral presentation test. Based on the analysis of data, it was found that the highest score of the student’s speaking ability was between 80-100 or 66.6% of the total population. It means that speaking ability of the second grade students at islamic junior hogh school al-ihsan siak hulu kampar can be classified into very good level.
