Abstract

ABSTRACT Ade Yanti, (2022) : A Comparative Study on The Effect of Using Self-Correction and PeerCorrection Techniques on Students’ Writing Skill at Language Development Centre of IAIN Padangsidimpuan This research was aimed to examine the significant effect of using Self-Correction and Peer-Correction techniques on students’ writing skill at Languange development Centre of IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The data were collected through Pre-test, Post-test, Writing assessment sheet and guidance sheet of Self and Peer correction technique. This research was comparative research design using quantitative method. The subject of the research was the second semester students at Language Development Centre of IAIN Padangsidimpuan consisting 3 class. The research sample was taken by using purposive sampling. The total of population was 34 classes and the total of sample was 3 classes consisting 77 students. Homogeneity and normality tests were used to analyze the data. The hypotheses were tested by using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test. The research findings showed that first, that there was a significant effect of using Self-correction technique to students’ writing skill. Second, there was a significant effect of using Peer-correction technique to students’ writing skill. Third, there was a significant difference of in writing skill between students who were taught by Self-correction technique and those who were taught by Peer-correction technique. The result showed that Peer-correction technique had more significant effect to students’ writing skill at the Language Development Centre of IAIN Padangsidimpuan.
