Abstract

ABSTRACT Harisma Matondang (2022): A Comparative Study on The Effect of Using QAR and PQRST on The Students’ Reading Comprehension at Language Development Center of IAIN Padangsidimpuan The main purpose of this research was to find out the significant difference of the improvement by using QAR and PQRST on the students’ reading comprehension at language development center of IAIN Padangsidimpuan. The design of this research was quasi-experimental design. This research used pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using Independent Sample T-test and Paired Sample T-test and Anova. The results of this research were; first, the significant effect of using QAR on the students’ reading comprehension. The researcher found the significant 0.00 < 0.05. Second, the researcher also found the significant effect of using PQRST on the students’ reading comprehension. The researcher found the significant 0.03 < 0.05. Last, the researcher found the significant difference in reading comprehension between students taught by using QAR and PQRST. The significant value was 0.00 < 0.05. In conclusion, QAR is more effective than PQRST to improve students' reading comprehension. The mean gain score of QAR was higher than the mean gain score of PQRST (13.15>12.59).
