Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of a government program, namely a sewing training program managed by the village government in Sungai Salak Village, this program aims to provide special skills according to the basic needs of the community so that they can open business fields and also open opportunities to improve the family economy. The purpose of this research is to find out how to empower the community based on life skills in Sungai Salak Village, Rambah Samo District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The theories that underlie this research include: Life Skills, namely sewing training activities through empowerment of Soft skills (non-technical abilities) and empowerment of Hard skills (technical abilities). This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Research informants amounted to 6 people. The results of this study can be seen that in Life Skills-based community empowerment by developing Soft Skills and Hard Skills in the form of sewing training activities which include the delivery of materials, skills and materials improvement by completing facilities, always evaluating and innovating in this activity and practiced directly . So that the trainees are able to make their own works, are able to teach and share experiences with others and have the ability to be entrepreneurial and independent.
