Abstract

ABSTRACT Oka Endah Sari (2022): “English Teachers’ Beliefs and Practices about Teaching and Learning of Speaking Skill at Madrasah Tsanawiyah K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, Teluk Kuantan” The objective of this study was to find out the teachers‟ beliefs and practices about teaching and learning in speaking English and to investigate the teachers practice their beliefs in the classroom. This study was conducted under the qualitative case study design. This study took the data in Madrasah Tsanawiyah, Islamic Boarding School of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan Teluk Kuantan, Kuantan Singingi and there are three English teachers as the participants of this study. The data were collected from the observation, interview and documents. The data were analyzed and interpreted through qualitative procedures. The findings of the study showed that (1) English Teachers have some beliefs about teaching such as the teachers believe in the process of their teaching and belief in learning such as the teachers believe in the process of learning and their focus of learning (2) There are some beliefs that have been practiced by teachers and there are also some beliefs that are not practiced by teachers which are divided into two types of practices such as relevance and irrelevance between teacher beliefs and how teachers practice their beliefs in classroom activities.
