Abstract

ABSTRACT Tivani Sri Hartati (2021): Students’ Speaking Performance at Az Zuhra Integrated Islamic Senior High School Pekanbaru. Speaking is one of the abilities that must be improved by students. In speaking English, most students have problems especially when speaking performance in front of the class. The purpose of this research was to find out students’ speaking performance at Az Zuhra Integrated Islamic Senior High School Pekanbaru and the factors that affect their speaking performance. The subject of this research was the tenth grade of Az Zuhra Integrated Islamic Senior High School Pekanbaru and the object of this research was students’ speaking performance. The researcher used total population sampling technique, there were 29 students as sample of this research. In order to collect the data, the researcher used test and questionnaire. Monologue speaking test was used to find out students’ speaking performance and the questionnaire consisting of 25 statements designed based on a five point likert scale was used to find out the factors that affect students’ speaking performance. Based on the reasearch findings, students’ speaking performance at the tenth grade of Az Zuhra Integrated Islamic Senior High School Pekanbaru was categorized into good level with the score was 68.76%. The researcher also found the factors that affect students’ speaking performance with each percentage, namely (1) performance conditions (76.13%), (2) affective factors (71.17%), (3) listening ability (72.13%), (4) topical knowledge (60.96) and feedback during speaking activities (77.93%). Therefore, from the factors found that all of these factors affect the speaking performance. Keywords: speaking performance
