Abstract

The presence of fauna can be used as a parameter of soil quality, soil fauna which is used as a bioindicator of soil fertility must have a relatively abundant amount. The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of soil macrofauna on irrigated rice fields and scrub lands aged 34 years in Kemuning Muda Village, Bunga Raya District, Siak Regency. This research was carried out from May 2019 to June 2019 in Kemuning Muda Village, Bunga Raya District, Siak Regency and the Laboratory of Pathology, Entomology, Microbiology, and Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Sultan Syarif Kasim Islamic State University, Riau. The study used a qualitative descriptive method, namely collecting data on the type and population of macrofauna in 34 years old paddy fields using pitfall traps and hand sorting methods. The parameters observed were the population of earthworms and soil arthropods. The results of the research on soil macrofauna diversity index were categorized as moderate diversity index on paddy fields and shrubs. There were 11 families identified on paddy fields and 5 families on bushland. In conclusion, the results showed that the 34-year-old macrofauna of paddy fields found 11 families, with a total population of 123 which were included in the moderate diversity criteria. Shrub land adjacent to paddy fields is used as a comparison for changes in macrofauna conditions. There is an increase in population and families in paddy fields compared to shrubs. On scrubland, there were 5 families, with a total population of 24. Based on this type and population, the level of macrofauna diversity in both locations was included in the medium diversity criteria. Keywords: soil macrofauna, diversity index, Siak. Regency
