Abstract

Planting media is a factor that can determine the success of acclimatization and enlargement of tissue cultured orchid seedlings. The research was conducted in March 2020 until May 2020 at the Titian Resak Village, Seberida sub-district, Indragiri Hulu Regency. This study aims to determine the best growing medium for the growth of the hybrid moon orchid (Phalaenopsis sp.) during the acclimatization period. The method used in this research is Completely Randomized Design (CRD) non factorial by combining 6 types of media treatment, namely: treatments (M0: Wood charcoal, M1: Coconut coir, M2: Fern , M3: Sphagnum moss, M4: Wood shavings, M5: Pine bark) with 4 replications The observed variables are the percentage of live plantlets (%),number of leaves (strands), leaf length (cm), leaf width (cm), and number of roots (strands). The results showed that the growing media of Sphagnum moss and Pine Bark showed the best results in terms of percentage of live plantlets, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves and number of roots for the growth of the Hybrid Moon orchid (Phalaenopsis sp.) during the acclimatization stage. Keywords: Acclimatization, Planting Media, and Phalaenopsis sp.
