Abstract

ABSTRACT Irna Andriana Gea, (2021): The Correlation Between Students’ Critical Thinking And Their Writing Recount Text Ability at SMAN 1 Kabun Rokan Hulu. The aim of this research is to describe the correlation between students’ critical thinking and their writing recount text. The research design is descriptive correlational research. The population of this research is the eleventh-grade students of SMAN 1 Kabun Rokan Hulu in academic year 2017/2018. The students were divided into 4 (for) classes, in which 109 students population. The sample of this research was 30 students that were chosen by simple random sampling. To collect the data, the researcher used Questionnaire and Test. Technique of Data Analysis used quantitative analysis. The research finding showed that students’ problems in developing writting skill were students did not have any idea related to the writing topic, had many ideas, but they did not present clear, cohesive, and well-organized writing, affraid of doing grammatical mistake in writing English, not able to convince the reader by using the appropriate words. In this research was done to know the correlation between students’ critical thinking and their writing recount text, by critical thinking the students will be able to communicate their though and opinion, and students’ be able to write recount text.
