Abstract

ABSTRACT Nofri Nuzul Putra, (2021): The Correlation between Students‟ Vocabulary Knowledge and Their Listening Comprehension of Eleventh Grade at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanabru The main focus of this research was to find out the relationship between students‟ vocabulary knowledge and listening comprehension of the eleventh grade students at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanbaru. The researcher formulated the problems into three research questions, they were; a) How was students‟ vocabulary knowledge of the elevent grade students at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanbaru? b) How was students‟ listening comprehension of the elevent grade students at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanbaru? c) Was there any significant correlat ion between students‟ vocabulary knowlegde and students‟ listening comprehension of the elevent grade students at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanbaru? The design of this research was a correlational research. There were two variables, that was students‟ vocabulary knowledge as a independent and listening comprehension as a dependent. The researcher took all of the total population because the total of population is less than 100. So, the sample are 57 students. Test listening and vocabulary assessment was the technique of collecting data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used inferencial statistics that was correlational analysis. Pearson Product Moment was the technique of analysis data. Based on the result of analysis, students‟ vocabulary knowledge was categorized into “Enough level” and students‟ listening comprehension at State Senior High School Handayani Pekanbaru was categorized into “Very Good level”.
