Abstract

The research have been conducted from November 2013 to February 2014 on the Experiment Land of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science,,Islamic State University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The objective of the research were to identify the effects of dosages of the palm oil fruit sticks composs and the silver black plastic mulsa on the growth and product of cucumber. The research design were Randomized block design in factorials with three replication. The first factor were the dosages of the composs (0, 10, 20, and 30 tone/ha) and the second factor were the treatment without mulsa and theated with mulsa. The observed variables were the height of the plants, the number of the sticks, the age of the flower, the number of fruits in each plant, the length of the cucumber fruit, the wight of the fruits for each plant, and the wight of the dried flower. The result of the research indicated that the 10 tone/ha dosages of the composs have the significant effect for all observed parameters, for the growth as well as for the production. The height of the plants increase (20.49%), the total number of plant’s sticks (18.06%) and (18.22%). The mulsa application had a significant effect on the total number of fruits, the legenth of the fruit and the dry weight of the flower. There were no interaction between the composs of the plam oil sticks and the silver black plastic mulsa for all observation, for the growth of the cucumberas well as for the production of cucumber.
