Abstract

Cacao is one of the agriculture commodities that play an important role the Indonesia economic development, particularly as a provider of employment, income and foreign exchange. The study was conducted from June to September 2013 at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Science, the State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The research aimed to know the effect dosage of ash of oil palm empty fruit bunches, Gandasil-D and interaction both of them on the growth of cocoa seedlings. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors and five replications. The first factor is the dosage of ash of oil palm empty fruit bunches (0, 4, 6, 8 g/plant), while the second factor is the concentration of Gandasil-D (0, 2, 3, 4 g/liter). Variables measured were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf length, leaf width, fresh weight, dry weight. The results showed that the application of ash of oil palm empty fruit bunches significantly affect plant height, stem diameter, leaf lenght and fresh weight. There is interaction of concentration of Gandasil-D did not significantly affect to all variables. The combination of ash of oil palm empty fruit bunches showed significant effect on stem diameter and fresh weight.
