Abstract

ABSTRACT Miftahhul Jannah, (2021): Parental Involvement in Learning English Based On Socioeconomic Status: A Survey of Students’ Perceptions at MTsS Pondok Pesantren Adlaniyah Pasaman Barat. This research aims to find out how is parental involvement and how is parents’ socioeconomic status reflected in parental involvement in learning English at MTsS Pondok Pesantren Adlaniyah Pasaman Barat from the students’ perceptions. The design of this research was a survey as part of quantitative research. The population of this research was the seventh and eighth grade students of MTsS Pondok Pesantren Adlaniyah Pasaman Barat. The total number of population was 200 students. In taking the participants, the researcher used proportional sampling. The sample was 100 students, in which 51 students from seventh grade and 49 students from the eight grade. The data in this study were obtained from questionnaires about parental involvement and parent’s socioeconomic status. The data were anlayzed by using descriptive statistics (percentage) and inferential statistics (Kruskal-Wallis test) in SPSS 16.0. The results of this study indicate that parental involvement was categorized into average level and the majority of parent’s socioeconomic status was middle level. This research also showed that there was no significant effect of parents’ socioeconomic status in parental involvement in learning English at MTsS Pondok Pesantren Adlaniyah Pasaman Barat.
