Abstract

State Junior High School 1 Bangkinang, Kampar Regency is one of the schools that used School Based Curriculum as guidance in teaching and learning process. After doing preliminary observation, some of the students of the eight grades still had low ability in their listening. The researcher interpreted that they had low ability in listening comprehension, it was indicated that they had difficulties distinguishing similar sound, not able to comprehend the content of listening text, not able to identify what the speaker means, not able to identify specific information of listening text, and cannot catch the keyword from the listening comprehension. Thus, the researcher was interested in conducting the research entitled “Contribution of using audiovisual media toward students’ Listening Comprehension at State Junior High School 1 Bangkinang Kampar Regency”. The type of the research was correlation. The main focus of this research was to find out a significant contribution of using audiovisual media toward students’ Listening Comprehension of the eight grades Students at State Senior High School 1 Bangkinang Kampar Regency. The subject of this research was the eighth grades students of SMP N 1 Bangkinang Kampar Regency. In this research, the researcher took two classes they are VIIIB and VIIIC. There were 51 students as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher used questionnaire and test. The questionnaire would be provided for students to see the using audiovisual media in that school. Test was used to measure the students’ listening comprehension. The test was used audiovisual media at that school. In data analysis, the researcher used regression liners formula that was operated by SPSS 17. Finally, the research found that H0 was rejected because Fcal > F table (54.409 > 4.03), the number of significant is 0.000<0.005 and the number of determination coefficient showed 0.700, it indicated contribution of using audiovisual media is 70%. In other words, there was a significance contribution of using audiovisual media towards students’ listening comprehension of eighth grades at state junior high school 1 Bangkinang, Kampar Regency.
