Abstract

This research had 3 formulations of the problems they were how students’ speaking skill taught without using dialogue memorization technique is, how students’ speaking skill taught by using dialogue memorization technique is, and whether there is significant effect of using dialogue memorization technique toward speaking skill of the second grade students at MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. The subject of this research was the second grade students of MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. The writer took two classes at the school as population which consisted of 52 students. Then, all of the population was taken as sample. Each of class named experimental class and control class. The variable involved in this research was the use of dialogue memorization technique as x variable and speaking skill as y variable. The type of the research used was quasi-experimental research. The writer took pretest-post-test non-equivalent group design. The technique of collecting data was test. The test was used to know the students’ speaking skill. The first step was done by giving pre-test to both of classes. Then the writer gave treatment to experimental class for 6 meetings, while the control class was given the conventional technique. In the next step, the writer gave post-test to both of classes. Based on data analysis, the writer found that to is 3.944 higher than ttable 2.01 in significant level of 5% and 2.68 in 1%, 2.01<3.944>2.68 so, it can be concluded that Ha is accepted, Ho is rejected. It means that there is significant effect of using dialogue memorization technique toward speaking skill of the second grade students at MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru
