Abstract
This research is conducted at the Third year students of Junior High School (SMP) 12 Pekanbaru. The main concern of this research is to find out the contribution of Transition Words Mastery Toward Students’ Listening Ability. There are still many difficulties to understand transition words in listening at The Third Grade of Junior High School (SMP) 12 Pekanbaru Riau. The subject of the study is the Third grade students of Junior High School (SMP) 12 Pekanbaru Riau, and the object is the contribution of students’ transition Word Mastery Toward their Listening Ability. In this research, the sample is gathering by using random sampling from the total of the population. In this research, the writer collected the data by using Transition word test and Listening test. The data was analyzed using Regression in SPSS15.0—statistical software for windows and found that the coefficient correlation (r) is -0,078, Sig.(2-tailed) is 0,262 and N is 70. Writer analyze the coefficient correlation (r) compared with the r table, the result is 0,250 > 0,078 < 0,325. In the other word ro < r t,. Sig.(2-Tailed) = 0.262. The result is Sig.(2-Tailed) < α, because α is 0.05. The conclusion we have to reject the Ha and Accept the Ho “There is no significant contribution of Transition Word Mastery Toward Students’ Listening Ability at the Third Grade of Junior High School (SMP) 12 Pekanbaru Riau
