Abstract
The purpose of this research was to find out the significant effect of using PQ4R and Graphic Organizers strategies on students’ reading comprehension at SMP YPPI Tualang. The research design was Quasi-Experimental research. The subject of this research was the students of class VIII at SMP YPPI Tualang. In this study, researcher involved 2 classes of 2 experimental classes consisting of 66 students. In the data collection, the researcher used tests and observations. Pre-test and Post-test were given in this research. Independent sample t-test and Paired sample t-test were used to test hypotheses Finally, the researcher found that the value of significant probability (p) was lower than (0.05 ) where sig. (2 tailed ) 0.000. It means that there was a significant effect of using PQ4R and Graphic Organizers strategies on students' reading comprehension. The contribution of improvement influence of reading strategy PQ4R was 78% while the contribution of Graphic Organizers was 80%. Finally it could be concluded that both strategies (PQ4R and Graphic Organizers )could be applied in students’ reading comprehension at SMP YPPI Tualang.
