Abstract

ABSTRACT Widya Octasingtia (2019): The Implementation of Click and Clunk Strategy toward the Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade Students of Junoir High School 26 Pekanbaru. This research was conducted based on students’ problem in reading comprehension.Therefore, this research was aimed 1) to investigate students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text before being taught by using Click and Clunk Strategy (CACS), 2) to investigate the students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text after being taught by using Click and Clunk Strategy (CACS), 3) to investigate whether there was significant difference on students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text before and after being taught by using Click and Clunk Strategy (CACS) of the second grade students at SMP Negeri 26 Pekanbaru. This research was a pre-experimental research, the researcher applied cluster random sampling. Over all population of the research was 140 students. The classes chosen was VIII.1 consisted of 35 students and the classes chosen was VIII.2 consisted of 35 students. The technique of analyzing the data was Paired Sample T-test. The result of data analysis showed that there is a significant difference on students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text after being taught by using Click and Clunk Strategy (CACS), in which the Sig (2-tailed) 0.003had less value than 0.005. Thus, Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Furthermore, there is a significant effect of using the Click and Clunk Strategy (CACS) on the students’ reading comprehension at SMP Negeri 26 Pekanbaru, in which the result of eta squared 0.12.
