Abstract

ABSTRACT Puji Anugrah Andini, (2019): The Relationship Between Students’ vi Metacogntive Strategy and Their Reading Comprehension In Descriptive Text at Islamic Senior High School Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. Based on the observation of researchers, the students of Madrasah Aliyah Diniyah Putri Pekanbaru experienced several phenomena in understanding the Metacognitive Strategy of these students. This can be seen when students are required to understand the readings given by the teacher, especially in descriptive texts, but they lack understanding of it. The purpose of this study is to look for the relationship between the Metacognitive Strategy of students and their reading comprehension in descriptive texts at Madrasah Aliyah Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. This research is in the form of correlation. The population and sample from this study were tenth grade at the Madrasah Aliyah Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru. The sample in this study were 45 students taken using the Total Sampling technique. In collecting data, researchers used questionnaires and reading comprehension tests, then researchers processed the data using SPSS version 21. Based on data analysis, the results of research analysis showed that sig.t was 0,000 less than 0.05 (sig-t ≤ 0.05). It can be concluded that (alternative hypothesis) Ha is accepted. In other words, there is a significant relationship between students' Metacognitive Strategy and their reading comprehension in descriptive text at Madrasah Aliyah Diniyah Puteri Pekanbaru.
