ABSTRACT Fadilla Sari Swandi, (2019) : An Analysis of Students’ Errors in Writing Report Text at SMK Negeri 7 Pekanbaru This research was aimed at obtaining the proportion (frequency and the percentage) of students’ errors in writing report text. In addition, the researcher also wanted to investigate the most common errors that the students commit on their writing report text. The researcher formulated the problem into one research question, what is the most students’ common error in writing report text at the tenth grade of State Vocational High School 7 Pekanbaru. Therefore, the objectives of this research was to describe the problematic of students’ errors in writing report text at SMK N 7 Pekanbaru. This research was descriptive research. The subject of this research was the tenth grade of SMK N 7 Pekanbaru. The researcher used cluster random sampling to take this sample, there were 36 students as sample from 540 students. To collect the data, the researcher used document of students’ work about writing report text. Based on data analysis, the researcher found that types of errors that students made in writing report text. The total amounts of errors made by students were 237 errors. The percentage of students’ error omission in writing report text was 33.7% or 80 errors, addition 17.7% or 42 errors, misordering 8.9% or 21 errors, and misformation 39.7% or 94 errors. And most students’ common errors made by the students was misformation was 39.7% or 94 errors. Keywords: Error, Writing, report text.
