Abstract

This research is entitled “5E Instructional Model on Students’ Reading Comprehension in Report Text at the Third Year Students of State Islamic Junior High School Andalan Pekanbaru. The research design was a quasi-experimental research. The objectives of the research were to find out the students’ reading comprehension in report text taught by using 5E Instructional Model, to find out the students’ reading comprehension in report text taught without using 5E Instructional Model, and to find out whether there is or not a significant effect of using 5E Instructional Model on students’ reading comprehension in Report Text at the Third Year Students of State Islamic Junior High School Andalan Pekanbaru. The population of this research was the nine grade students at State Islamic Junior High School Andalan Pekanbaru in 2016/2017. It consisted of ten classes; the number of population was 369 students. The sample of this research was 76 students taken from two classes (38 students in each class). The technique of collecting data used by researcher was test, used to find out the students’ reading comprehension in report text. The technique of analyzing data was an independent sample t-test and it was eased by using SPSS 16 program. Finally, based on the data analysis, the researcher concluded that there was a significant effect of using 5E Instructional Model on Students’ Reading Comprehension in Report Text at the Third Year Students of State Islamic Junior High School Andalan Pekanbaru, where the sig. (2 tailed) was 0.000<0.05,It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Keywords: Effect, 5E Instructional Model, Reading Comprehension.
