Abstract

The quasi experimental research was conducted based on the problems faced by students in reading comprehension of narrative text. The problems wereidentifying the main idea, generic structure, get the antonym/synonym of word, finding the word reference and analyzing the moral value.So, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about these problems by using K-W-LM Technique. The Purpose of this research was to determine whether there is a significance effect of using K-W-L-M Technique on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at the eighth grade of state junior high school 5 Kampar Kiri Hilir.The design of this research was quasi experimental design. In collecting the data, the researcherused multiple choices test in order to find out the students’ reading comprehension of narrative text. To analyze the data, the researcher adopted independent sample T-test formula by using SPSS 20 version. The researcher found that there was a significant differenceeffect of usingK-W-LM Technique on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text at the eighth grade of state junior high school 5 kampar kiri hilir, where to shows 5.617 in the significant level of 5% was 2.02, and in the level of 1% was 2.72. It can be shown by 2.02<5.617> 2.72.Significance was 0.000 < 0.05. So, null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected, and alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted.
