Abstract

The main focus of this research was to find out the relationship between students’ memory about vocabulary and their listening comprehension at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru. The researcher formulated the problems into three research questions, they were; a) How was students’ memory at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru? b) How was students’ listening comprehension at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru? c) Was there any significant correlation between students’ memory and students’ listening comprehension at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru? The design of this research was a correlational research. There were two variables, that was students’ memory as a independent and listening comprehension as a dependent. Simple random sampling was the way to take the sample. The researcher took 20% of the total population became 36 students as a sample. Test listening and questionnaire was the technique of collecting data. In analyzing the data, the researcher used inferencial statistics that was correlational analysis. Pearson Product Moment was the technique of analysis data. Based on the result of analysis, students’ memory was categorized into “Average level” and students’ listening comprehension at State Senior High School 4 Pekanbaru was categorized into “Enough level”.
