Abstract
Based on School Based 2013 Curriculum (K13), Reading is one of the English language skills that must be taught and learned in Senior High School. SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan, Regency of Pelalawan is a school which uses K13 as the curriculum in the teaching and learning process. Based on the preliminary research, it was found that students reading comprehension of class X at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan was difficulties in understanding descriptive text. This Research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan, Regency of Pelalawan. There was one variable in this research namely students’ Reading Comprehension. The Subject in this research was the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan. The object of this research was to find out how good reading comprehension the tenth grade students in comprehending descriptive text at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan, Regency of Pelalawan. Based on the data analysis result, it was found that students reading comprehension was “Less” Level, with mean 59 in understanding descriptive text at SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Petalangan grade X, regency of Pelalawan.
