Abstract
Based on the researcher’s preliminary study, it was found that most of students’ reading comprehension and students’ translation ability are still less than enough. So the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about this problem. The research was administered at MA Ummatan Wasathan Pesantren Teknologi Riau. The objective of the research is to find out correlation between students’ reading coprehension and their translation ability of analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade students of MA Ummatan Wasathan Pesantren Teknologi Riau. The design of this research is correlation research. The total number of population was 46 students. In the case, the researcher used total sampling technique. In collecting data, the researcher used multiple test and written test. The multiple test was used to obtain the students’ reading comprehension and written test was used to find out the students’ translation ability. From the data analysis by using product moment formula through SPSS 17.00, the researcher found that: 1) The score of correlation coefficient is 0.717 > 0.2907 in significant level of 5% and 0.2455 in significant level of 1% (see the table of product moment), it means that Ha was accepted which indicated that there is a significant correlation between students’ reading comprehension and their translation ability of analytical exposition text. 2) The probability of score sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05, it means that Ha was accepted. In other words, that there is a significant correlation between students’ reading comprehension and their translation ability of analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade students of MA Ummatan Wasathan Pesantren Teknologi Riau.
