Abstract

This research aim to whether there is no significant difference between perrceived and utterance fluency analysis on students’ speaking fluency at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. There are 192 students of the fifth semester student as the population that are divided into 7 classes, the researcher took 20 students as the sample are taken randomly. The design of this research is causal comparative design. There are two raters was analyzed the students speaking fluency by using perceived fluency and the researcher was analyzed by counting the error syllables by using Audacity called utterance fluency. In analyzing the data, independent sample T-test technique is used to measure the difference of perceived and utterance fluency mean score. Based on the research finding it was found that probability level = 0.135 > 0.05 it means that null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is no a significant difference between perceived and utterance fluency on students’ speaking fluency at State Islamic University of Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The level of students’ speaking fluency by using perceived fluency categorized Good Level at score 67.35 and categorized Good Level at score 67.15 by using utterance fluency.
