Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at the eleventh grade of Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru. The type of this research was descriptive research. The subject of this research was the eleventh grade students of Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru. The object of this research was students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text. From 331 students of the total population which consisted of nine classes, the researcher took 35 students as the sample by using simple random sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher distributed written test to analyze students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text. From five components of writing, the researcher found that the students’ strong in the content and weak in the mechanics. The result of data analysis was that their ability was categorized into good level. Therefore, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing analytical exposition text at Senior High School 9 Pekanbaru is categorized into good level.
