Abstract
Based on the researcher’s preliminary study, it was found that the students could not write in English well. This problem was caused by some factors.Some of students had lack of vocabulary, therefore they were confused to write in English. It was also difficult for them to use good grammatical order, and they could not write the narrative text with the clear information. However, the researcher was interested in carrying out the research about this problem . The purpose of this research was to know whether there is a significant difference between before and after using Animation Movie for students’ skill in writing narrative text at State Senior High School 1 Seberida. The researcher conducted a research at State Senior High School 1 Seberida. The subject was the tenth grade students of State Senior High School 1 Seberida and the object of this research was using Animation Movie for students’ skill in writing narrative text. The type of research was pre-experimental research, with one group pretest-posttest design. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students at state Senior high school 1 Seberida Indragiri Hulu Regency. The researcher took one class, which an experimental class. There were 36 students in X science A class as sample from 198 students of population after doing cluster random sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher used an essay test. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Paired Samples t-test formula by using SPSS version 23. Based on the analysis of data, the result showed that there was a significant difference in students’ writing skill before using Animation Movie and students’ writing skill after using Animation Movie. It was proved by probability which was lower than 0.05, probability of this research was 0.000, 0.000 < 0.05. It means that null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that there was a significant difference between before and after using Animation Movie for students writing skill at state Senior high school 1 Seberida Indragiri Hulu Regency. Therefore, it could be concluded that students’ writing skill on narrative text after using Animation Movie was better than students’ writing skill on narrative text before using Animation Movie.
